Fokker Dr.I

FOKKER DR.I

It was a supreme maneuverable fighter, but at the time it was introduced to service in October 1917, it already outclassed by a new generation of fighting scouts. Famed as the red-painted mount of Baron Manfred von Richtofen at the time of his death, it early career was marred by a series of fatal crashes. The fact it received many accolades was due to the skilled men who flew, at which Anthony Fokker himself expressed surprise. It never used in very large numbers.
